Vanessa Lee Carlton was born on August 16, 1980. She was the first child of Ed and Heidi Carlton, whom later had 2 other children; Gwen and Edmund. Vanessa was raised Milford, Pennsylvania and now resides in New York.
Her mother was a talented piano teacher and had exposed Vanessa to her "realm." By the age of of 2, Vanessa started becoming a sensation with the classical instrument. Later in her life, she became addicted to the modern art of ballet. At 14, she moved on to the School of American Ballet where she had to live in a dorm (
this at age 14). Being a talent, she enrolled into Professional Children's School. Stars like Sarah Michelle Gellar also graduated from the New York school.
During her experiences and time during her ballet career, she turned her life around to music. Back on her piano, she stopped her path towards a professional dancer and started writing music. Although working towards to becoming a professional musician had some drawbacks. Vanessa's job was just waitressing, and at one restaurant, she was able to perform.
Her debut album, "Be Not Nobody" was released in 2004 and was signed by A&M Records. V's first single was "A Thousand Miles" which is still a hit today. It was featured in the feature film,
Hot Chicks and is considered a classic pop song.
She appeared on shows such as American Dreams and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Vanessa is still a star today as she was then. In 2007, she bloomed with a brand new CD called "Heroes and Thieves" which she is now touring for. The talented piano player and singer remains the talent she always was.
